ALICE is the oldest child and only daughter of Martha Tate and Cornelius Robinson. She was born around 1862) in Darlington County, South Carolina, USA. Around 1876, she met and married Isaiah Chahman (South Carolina).
Alice and Isaiah live in High Hill, Darlington, South Carolina in 1880. To this union seven children were born:

In the mid to late 1880s, Isaiah, Alice and the children migrated to Pulaski County, Arkansas with her widowed mother, Martha and four of her five brothers. During this time they lost two children. Their last child, Isaac was born in 1893. (We do not have records to reflect Isaiah’s death during the mid to late 1890s.)
At the turn of the century Alice met Milton L. Brownlee. They married on December 29, 1900 (marriage certificate). To this union two children were born:
DENNIS BROWNLEE (b. Missouri) (1901 – 1975)
SAMMIE BROWNLEE (1906 –
Alice and Milton bought farm land in Pyeat Township living there until they died. This land was located across the Arkansas River from Little Maumelle in western Pulaski County.
NOTE: Around 1920, Alice starting using her full name MARY ALICE (possibly named after her maternal grandmother, Mary Ellis Tate)
